| ROWING |
|
| The
confluence of Kansal and Saketri
Choes at Sukhna Choe was converted
into Sukhna Lake in 1958 with
a surface area of 228.66 hectares
(565 acres) and immediately thereafter
some small country rowing boats
were provided for joy rides. At
present Chandigarh has, as per
the FISA racing byelaws, an international
standard rowing course measuring
2,000 meter long, 3 meters deep
and 5 lanes and has the privilege
of hosting prestigious events
like Asian Rowing Championship
in the 1989, besides hosting three
All India Invitation Rowing regattas
in 1985, 1989 and 1991. The
following imported boats are
available in the Complex to
be used by the users for training
purposes. |

| Kayaking/Canoeing
in Chandigarh has taken a flying
start and Chandigarh has won richest
haul of medals in the National
Games. The Complex has the following

| Sailing
|
|
| Yachting,
generally known as sailing, is
a glamorous and spectacular sport
and in Chandigarh it is as old
as the Complex itself. In 1960
the Complex acquired 5 locally
built dingoes named “Blue-Jay”,
“Golden Oriole” “Robin”,
“Kingfisher” and “Parakeet”.
Subsequently, however, these boats
were replaced by International
Enterprise Clause which are in
use in almost all the sailing
Complex in India. Chandigarh has
a fleet of 12 boats of this clause.

| The
Complex has swimming facilities
for its users and is equipped
with modern filtration plant.
Utmost care is taken to keep the
